Sarah-Denise Elolaimi, Portland Doula
As your doula, it is my goal to provide you with an informed, empowered, and safe birthing experience. I am a mother of three and understand first hand how important it is to have support during pregnancy, birth, and beyond. I am the oldest of eight children and have witnessed birth since the age of nine. I come from a Palestinian American background and have always had a passion for diversity. I am partly bilingual, speaking Arabic and English and I’ve spent my life traveling to and from the Middle East. I take great pride in working with the BIPOC community and enjoy learning about different cultures and backgrounds. I firmly believe that knowledge is power.
I chose to become a doula because I learned that the pregnancy journey and level of care we receive during that time can ultimately shape how we feel and can impact us for the rest of our lives. Doulas play a special role during the prenatal, birth, and postpartum period. We are there specifically for you and your partner. It is imperative that all persons have access to doulas, and I am here to provide you with encouragement and inspire the confidence you need to have the birth of your choice. You are in control, I will advocate for you by helping you to make informed decisions and will work collaboratively with your medical team. I will be there for you both physically and emotionally. I am also certified in lactation support and trauma informed care.
My free time is spent with my children. We love sports and movie nights. Music is our passion, it is always on and somebody in our house is probably dancing around or making a beat. I love to cook and I’m always looking for a new recipe to try. I enjoy a good potluck and time spent with friends and family.
