Emma Anderson, Portland Doula
I am an American who was raised and educated in the UK where I became a British Qualified Midwife. I have been honored to attend well over a hundred births and to have helped over 40 tiny humans make their way into the world. My experiences have taught me that birth can at times feel overwhelming and as such I take a very calm and quiet approach to birth work. My job is to help untangle all that complexity, unjumble those words, and really help you understand what it is that you are navigating. I will be many things for you on this journey – an educator, a cheerleader, an advocate and a shoulder should you ever need it. I passionately believe that all women should have an empowered birth experience regardless of their background or beliefs and as such, I will always treat you with dignity, compassion, and a desire to help you achieve a birth that is truly tailored to you and your needs. I also strongly believe in using evidence-based practices to achieve more positive birth outcomes. In addition to being a doula, I am also a qualified educator of science and enjoy time with my family, playing my violin, and yoga.
