Krystle Gard, Birth First Doulas

Krystle Gard, Portland Doula

I gave birth to my first child at home in the care of a midwife and doula in Anchorage, AK. It was a defining moment in my life and I fell in love with the energy of the birth experience. I credit my amazing birth team with my feelings of peace and safety. Before the year was out, I began working as a doula, helping other birthing mothers. Then, just after a move to Pendleton, OR, I had twins. Without family or a support system, I was exhausted and felt I missed a lot of the fun and beauty of my growing family. My subsequent experience utilizing a postpartum doula after the birth of my surrogacy baby, confirmed my decision to focus on providing postpartum support to other families.

I have been in the birthing world for over 12 years. I have worked as a birth doula and postpartum doula, birth assistant and currently teach classes on Newborn Care, Postpartum Preparation, Twins, and Intimacy in the 4th trimester. I  have also been a surrogate three times and love providing all families with the opportunity to learn and grow.

I have a Chemical Engineering degree from Drexel University and with this varied background, I enjoy serving families of all shapes and sizes. I love the connection that comes with helping families after they have brought their baby home and am passionate about providing the postpartum support that they deserve. I care holistically for the family, whether it be taking care of a baby and household tasks, or acting as a sounding board during that vulnerable time. An engineer by training, I am an organized person who enjoys helping parents find a system and flow that will make their lives easier as a parent.

When I am not doing postpartum work, I am an outdoor junkie. I revel in spending time in nature with my family, kayaking, hiking, biking, and skiing. I am also interested in all things related to nutrition and am on a quest to find healthy ways to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Krystle’s Testimonials

I recently had the pleasure of hiring a Krystle to assist me during the early weeks after giving birth, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the moment she arrived, her warm and nurturing presence put me at ease. She went above and beyond her role by providing not only emotional support but also practical assistance with meals, laundry, and light chores. I am immensely grateful for her support, and I wholeheartedly recommend her services to any new parent in need of both practical and emotional care.
