Teal Brady, Portland Doula

I am a trained and certified birth and postpartum doula in Portland and Vancouver, Washington as well as a placenta specialist. Prior to birth work, I was an early education teacher and also spent time working in healthcare as a medical assistant. Shortly before giving birth to my daughter, I moved from Maryland to San Francisco. The absence of friends and family nearby made me realize it really does “take a village” to birth and raise a baby. It was then I decided to help other people during this life changing period and began my journey in birth work. Since then, pregnancy and the birth process has continued to fascinate me. I have attended a variety of births in hospitals, at home, and in birthing centers allowing me the benefit of seeing birth in all its multifaceted nature. Giving birth is life altering and I believe every birthing person should have a positive birth experience however they envision it. The joy in my work is building relationships with clients and meeting them where THEY are, with an open heart and mind. I consider it an honor and privilege to be a part of your birth experience.

In my free time, you can usually find me in the kitchen whipping up something tasty (that probably has too much cheese), making jewelry, restoring antique furniture, gardening, or having a dance party for one. Most of the time I’m either covered in paint or dirt but some of my favorite moments are spent snuggled up with my tiny human, my partner, and our two rescue dogs.

Teal’s Testimonials

“Teal was great as our doula for our first pregnancy. If not for her advice, we would not have known when to go to the hospital and would have kept laboring at home! It was great to have a doula for the first pregnancy, even just for peace of mind for someone experienced to be there.

I highly recommend Teal as a labor and delivery doula. As a new mom and a single mom, she provided me a lot of support, both emotional and educational, throughout my pregnancy, labor stages, delivery, and postpartum. She is very personable and warm and I felt very comfortable with her throughout each step of my pregnancy and labor. I am so thankful to have had her there during my delivery. It was a very emotionally and physically intense delivery being my first, but I felt supported, comfortable, and taken care of by her. It was nice to have someone experienced, able to calm me and talk to doctors/nurses with me. She also captured pictures of the delivery and I am so grateful for the photos I now have. I enjoyed getting to know Teal as a person too. She is down to earth, personable, open minded and supportive, but also knowledgeable and confident in her practice. Thank you Teal for creating a positive birthing experience for me and my daughter.”

Teal is FANTASTIC to work with. I felt very comfortable talking to her about what I wanted for my birth. She also had a very detailed guide that helped me think about things I hadn’t considered. Our early talks helped me get through the intensity of an unexpected fast birth. She was very responsive to all of our needs and I highly recommend her!

I can’t say enough about Teal. I went into labor early while visiting family and she was able to help me out very last minute. She was professional and extremely knowledgeable. Teal was also a text, email or phone call away to answer any of my questions. My placenta pills were dropped off at my in-laws house a few hours before I even returned from the hospital. I can’t thank her enough. She made a very unexpected, stressful situation very positive. I would highly recommend her.
